ALLERGIES
Allergies are considered to be the result of an imbalance in the body’s doshas, particularly the aggravation of Kapha and Pitta doshas. Allergies manifest when the body’s immune system reacts to substances (allergens) that are typically harmless. Ayurvedic treatment focuses on balancing the doshas, strengthening the immune system, and eliminating toxins (ama) from the body.
Panchakarma Therapies:
- Vamana (Therapeutic Emesis): To expel excess Kapha from the body, particularly useful for respiratory allergies.
- Virechana (Purgation Therapy): To cleanse Pitta and reduce inflammation, beneficial for skin and digestive allergies.
- Nasya (Nasal Administration): Application of medicated oils through the nasal passages to clear sinus congestion and improve
respiratory function. - Swedana (Herbal Steam Therapy): To open up the channels and eliminate toxins through sweating.
Other Therapies:
- Neti Pot (Jala Neti): Nasal irrigation with saline water to clear nasal passages and reduce respiratory symptoms.
- Gargling: With warm saline water or herbal decoctions to soothe throat irritation.
